It was the place of refuge for my mother and me–we were homeless and my mom had suffered a lot of trauma.
We moved there from a small suburb of Atlanta, GA, and Mom ran out of gas near Shreveport.
Shreveport turned out to be a city of love, hope and inspiration for me and these past few days watching my favorite areas being flooded have broken my heart.
Many have lost their homes, many have lost belongings and they need help.
My financial situation isn't that great–my husband and I are making it by the skin of our teeth. My jewelry sales feed us and his freelance work pays the rest of the bills–but I have plenty of jewelry and have dedicated this piece to help:
My city is flooded and my financial situation isn't enough to help out anyone.
Green Jasper (semi precious gemstone. Wire is .925 Sterling Silver and it's a Size 9. Here's a video I recorded last year of it.
I am selling it to the highest bidder. Originally priced at $75–I started the auction on Facebook yesterday.
I will donate all the money (except any Paypal fees that they take automatically) to Shreveport Bossier's Salvation Army as they are doing a tremendous job helping not just those displace, but the volunteers and relief workers as well.
Many of my friends are like me, financially unable to help–but there are other ways you can help:
1. Share this blog post. Someone will see it and want to help.
2. Share this message: If you need help or want to donate call 318-424-3200
3. Pray–you can always pray for those in need.
4. A Red Cross shelter has opened up for those who need shelter. You can also donate to them. Click here to see more.
